Some years later...

So here we are, starting another incredible September of health. I am considerably fatter than when I last posted here, and the cat just weed on the carpet. So that's all good then.

I'm a week into the regime and it's all ok. No sweets for 7 days and all is well. I've lost 5lb since I cam back from hols on 31st August and am feeling good about my healthinesses.

Is all gone wrong.

Oh sweet heaven it's all gone wrong.  Cakes, chips and loads of kipping. I'm sorry the Internet, I have let you down.

Tomorrow is another day,  etc.

Sorry.

PS I blame Ikea and birthdays (not mine).

PPS I actually blame habit and cake psychosis.  I think that is A Thing.

Days 3 and 4: dolcelatte slip and a buffet dodge

So, yesterday I accidently ordered and ate a gravy boat full of dolcelatte. Now as you know there are no rules forbidding the imbibing of boated food; only cakes and sweets are verboten. It is true that of all the cheeses Dolcelatte is the most desert-y sounding. Still, I do not consider a line to have been crossed.

I successfully dodged a cake-based buffet the same day, despite everything in me wanting to go Slimer on the whole immense desert section. Such willpower. Such grace.

Today I felt fainty so ate a whole punnet of grapes. I think you can see I panicked.

Lunch at the Good Apple Cafe - you must go there as it is ace. A veggie cafe in Sunderland. I never did think I'd see the day.

I am over my 10k step average and I have signed up for a beginners yoga class. Ooooh, and extra good, I joined Slimming World only to find one of my Aunties operating the raffle. We Nixons always rise to positions of great responsibility.

I went to the pictures with Russell. We did not have sweets or popcorn but we did ship Hassell Styce.
I also went for a lovely walk by the river. And there will be many thousands of steps.

Day 2 - the malteaser test

Day two and already this is really boring and difficult - my favourite combination!

Today:

UP
  • Vegetable intake (including carrots - get me)
  • Coffee (decaf)
  • Cereal
  • Making my own tea
  • Achieving ((MOT booked, dentist booked, smuggness levels - off the dial)
DOWN
  • No sweets
  • No cakes
  • No booze
  • No nowt :(
UP, UP, UP
I did my 10k steps which was actually fun. I went for a lovely walk listening to Songs For Swinging Lovers in a super ugly but comfy as flip Clarks trainer. (NEWSFLASH: Clarks do a trainer. Note to self, call Kanye with this news asap.)

A kind colleague bought me a massive box of birthday malteasers. So nice of her but not September compliant. I shared them on reception. So difficult.

Might pick a different album every day for my civilised walk. This incredible September could have a cultural bent. Ace.

A reasonably successful first day

As day one comes to a close, I declare it reasonably successful.

UP:

  1. Fruit intake
DOWN:
  1. Cake intake
  2. Also sugar
LEVEL:
  1. Moving about. Under 10k steps today and not likely to get there as am unprepared to take on the windswept streets of Sunderland in this here dark, drizzly night. Still aiming for 10k steps each day but must do a min on 70k over a week. These's my rules.
It's Sunday night so custom dictates I must mope about in the bath humming the Last of the Summer Wine theme tune. Goodnight Compo, wherever you are.

Brunch - such fun and regime in tact

I

I did not have any booze or cake. I did have figs and avocados. Superhumanity beckons, surely?

Day one - am

Morning!

I have, as is inevitable when undertaking something like this, awoken with a food hangover . I blame my delicious last supper of stuff from Thai Manor. Gah! Goodbye food hangovers - see you in October.

The day has started with a run down of last week's stats from my excellent and very fancy pedometer (thanks dad - see I am using it!).

Here's how we'll know if I'm actually doing the incredible September of health exercise plan - ie do the minimum recommended exercise for an adult - lazy article.

So this is what it said:

Not bad, not terrible. A start.

Off to to meet my chums for breakfast club shortly and then have my basic fm radio programme to do. Both fun, but seated, activities. Might have to start to wander round 'the studio' (my front room) like a hi-energy shock jock. Will practice my swearing now.
